Cultural Celebrations & Festivals
Nowruz, Shab-e Yalda, and seasonal gatherings that honour Iranian heritage and bring the community together in joy and reflection.
Our cultural celebrations are the heart of Farabi Arts Society — occasions where the Iranian-Canadian community gathers to honour the seasons, share traditions, and welcome friends of all backgrounds into the warmth of Persian culture.
Nowruz — Persian New Year
Our Nowruz Gala is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Held each spring to mark the Persian New Year, the evening features live music, poetry readings, the Haft-Seen tableau, traditional rituals, and a festive atmosphere that honours renewal and hope. The Gala brings together hundreds of community members for an unforgettable evening of culture and celebration.
Shab-e Yalda — The Longest Night
On the longest night of the year, families and friends gather to read the poetry of Hafez, share pomegranates and watermelon, and celebrate the triumph of light over darkness. Our Yalda Night gathering is an intimate and deeply meaningful event — one of the most cherished in our calendar.
- Nowruz Gala (spring) — music, poetry, Haft-Seen
- Shab-e Yalda (winter solstice) — poetry, storytelling, seasonal foods
- Mehregan — autumn harvest celebration
- Tirgan — summer water festival
Every celebration is a thread woven between generations — a promise that our culture will endure and flourish wherever we are in the world.
