Our Commitment
Farabi Arts Society is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as adopted under the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
Accessibility Features
We have incorporated the following features to improve accessibility:
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are operable via keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Skip to content — a "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users.
- Semantic HTML — we use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions (
main, nav, footer), and ARIA attributes where appropriate. - Alternative text — all meaningful images include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as presentational.
- Colour contrast — text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios. Gold is used only as an accent colour, never for body text on light backgrounds.
- Resizable text — the layout responds gracefully when text is scaled up to 200%.
- No auto-playing media — no audio or video plays automatically without user initiation.
Known Limitations
We are continuously working to improve accessibility. Some third-party content (such as embedded YouTube videos and the Helcim payment iframe) is provided by external services whose accessibility is outside our direct control. We encourage affected users to contact us if they encounter barriers.
